May 1 - 3
Funny Money by Ray Cooney

Presented by The Schoolhouse Theater. Jean is preparing a birthday dinner for her mild-mannered accountant husband. When he arrives he is not himself and suggests they immigrate to Barcelona. The reason is that Henry has found a briefcase containing £735,000 (over $1 million.) Other guests at the dinner are forced into a game of cat and mouse when two police inspectors call. Visit www.theschoolhousetheater.com for more information.

May 5
Cinco de Mayo at Dolce Vita

Bring your sombreros & maracas and celebrate! Featuring an authentic Mexican Menu in addition to the regular menu. Special entertainment by Jose Aponte. Open for dinner 5:30 - 10:30pm. Call 239.472.5555

May 14
Islands Night

Sponsored by Sam Bailey, this extremely popular annual event is an evening of Miracle baseball (this year vs Clearwater), a parade, live music, goodies, socializing and just plain fun. There are always LOTS of locals at this event and all the hawkers are islanders. (be a hawker, you'll love it!) This year's festivities begin at 6:30p with the On-Field Parade and pre-game Ceremony (fun to be in!), followed by an Islander singing the National Anthem. For the kids there are between innings games and contests. All Islands Night proceeds go to local charities. Get your FREE tickets at Bailey's Store! The Lee County Sports Complex/Hammond Stadium is on Six Mile Cypress Road.

May 21
Experience Italy at Thistle Lodge

Join Suzanne Watral & Alberto Prealoni beginning at 6:30pm for an exquisite five course food and wine pairing offered in the Tuscan tradition. Limited production, highly rated, hand crafted wines. Phone Suzanne Watral at 239.579.1029 for reservations. Seating limited to 24 guests.

July 4
Sanibel's Annual July 4th Celebration

Start your day with an old-fashioned hometown parade at down Periwinkle at 9:30am. Paraders treat the crowd to free gifts, candy and the occasional cool-down water spraying. Plan to visit local restaurants and shops after the parade and take advantage of the many sales and events planned.

The City fireworks display will begin at dusk that night and as in past years, the display will be on Bay Drive near the Causeway. The best location to view the fireworks display is from the Causeway spoil islands. Get there early and stake out your spot!

Mark your calender for fireworks over the waters of Sanibel and Captiva Island.
